This Privacy Policy describes how 618 Digital, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information from visitors and subscribers to luxperpetua.net ("the Platform"). We take your privacy seriously and collect only what we need to operate the Platform and serve you well.

By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Who We Are

Lux Perpetua is a serial novel publishing platform operated by 618 Digital, Inc., an Illinois corporation with its principal place of business at 4716 Brittany Ct., Granite City, IL 62040. Questions about this Policy may be directed to record@luxperpetua.net.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: information you provide to us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Platform.

Information You Provide

Free readers (email-gated access):

  • First name
  • Email address

Keeper and Custodian subscribers:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Postal code
  • Mailing address (optional, collected if you indicate you may wish to receive physical materials in the future)
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers or payment credentials on our servers)

The Seventy-Two subscribers:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Postal code
  • Full mailing address (required for physical fulfillment)
  • Payment information (processed by Stripe)

Household members added by a primary account holder:

  • First name
  • Email address

No additional personal information is collected from household members. If a household member is under 18, their information is collected and stored under the primary account holder's parental consent, as described in Section 7.

Community members (Custodian, Seventy-Two, and First Twelve):

  • Community alias (chosen by you)
  • Profile icon selection (chosen from a curated set; no image uploads)

Optional:

  • Age range (collected via optional survey after signup; not required)
  • Reading preferences (font choice, display mode, text size, notification preferences)

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the Platform, we collect certain technical information through Fathom Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service. Fathom does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. We receive aggregate data about page views, chapter completions, and navigation patterns, but this data cannot be tied to individual users.

We also collect:

  • Session data necessary to maintain your authenticated session (stored server-side)
  • Your reading progress and streak data (stored in your account profile)
  • Referral attribution data if you arrive via a referral link

We do not use tracking pixels, third-party advertising cookies, or behavioral profiling tools.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To operate the Platform:

  • Authenticating your identity via The Seal (our passwordless login system)
  • Delivering content appropriate to your subscription tier
  • Managing your account and preferences
  • Processing payments through Stripe

To fulfill physical subscriptions (Seventy-Two tier):

  • Shipping monthly perfect bound issues to your mailing address
  • Shipping annual volumes to your mailing address
  • Shipping annual physical artifacts to your mailing address

To communicate with you:

  • Sending authentication emails (The Seal)
  • Sending chapter publication notifications (if enabled)
  • Sending community forum notifications (if enabled)
  • Sending subscription renewal reminders and confirmations
  • Sending fulfillment shipping notifications

To improve the Platform:

  • Analyzing aggregate reading patterns to understand which content resonates
  • Tracking referral activity to award badges and understand growth

To maintain community standards:

  • Moderating community forum content
  • Enforcing the Community Covenant

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not display advertising on the Platform.

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: We share necessary information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform. These include:

  • Stripe - payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
  • SendLayer - transactional email delivery. Your email address is shared with SendLayer solely to deliver emails you have requested or to which you have subscribed.
  • Fathom Analytics - privacy-first analytics. Fathom does not receive personally identifiable information.
  • Other print & shipping roviders - print-on-demand and/or fulfillment for annual volumes (Seventy-Two tier and any add-ons). Your name and mailing address are shared with providers solely for the purpose of printing and shipping your subscription materials.
  • Cloudflare - DNS, security, and email routing services.

All service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purpose of providing services to us and to protect your information in accordance with applicable law.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of 618 Digital, Inc., our subscribers, or the public.

Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify you via email and a prominent notice on the Platform before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade your personal information with any other third party for any other purpose.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.

If you cancel your subscription, we retain your account information for 12 months in case you choose to resubscribe. After 12 months of inactivity following cancellation, we delete your personal information from our active systems, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes or enforcing our agreements.

Reading progress, streak data, and community contributions (forum posts) associated with your account are retained as part of the permanent record of the Platform unless you request deletion.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you by contacting record@luxperpetua.net.

Correction: You may update your personal information at any time through your account page at luxperpetua.net/account/.

Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting record@luxperpetua.net. We will delete your information within 30 days of a verified deletion request, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Email preferences: You may update your notification preferences at any time through your account page. You may also unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those emails. Note that transactional emails (authentication, billing, fulfillment) cannot be unsubscribed from while your account is active, as they are necessary to operate your account.

Account closure: You may close your account at any time by contacting record@luxperpetua.net. Account closure will terminate your subscription and access to the Platform.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a user under 13 has created an account, we will immediately terminate the account and delete all associated personal information within 30 days.

Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may access the Platform only as household members under a parent or guardian's account. The parent or guardian must provide explicit consent when adding a household member under 18. We collect only the first name and email address of household members, and this information is stored under the primary account holder's account with the parent or guardian's consent.

If you believe your child under 13 has accessed the Platform, please contact us immediately at record@luxperpetua.net and we will take prompt action.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Server-side session management (we do not use client-side JWT tokens for authentication)
  • Stripe's PCI-compliant payment processing (we never store card numbers or payment credentials)
  • Cloudflare security services
  • Hashed authentication codes for The Seal system

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The Platform uses the following cookies:

Session cookie: A server-side session cookie necessary to maintain your authenticated state. This cookie expires after 48 hours of inactivity.

Preference cookie: A cookie storing your reading preferences (font, size, display mode) and your email address for convenience on re-authentication. This cookie expires after 30 days.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or cookies for behavioral profiling.

Fathom Analytics, our analytics provider, does not use cookies and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.

10. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

11. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under this Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Madison County, Illinois.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by posting a notice on the Platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of the updated Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
